AMIT MALHOTRA, GENERAL MANAGER – STUDIO ENTERTAINMENT SEA


Amit Malhotra oversees all the Studio businesses (Theatrical, In-Home, Live Events and Stage Plays) in Southeast Asia.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture International (WDSMPI), Disney’s film distribution arm, is responsible for distributing and marketing Disney’s animated features and live action films on the big screen. WDSMPI distributes films under several banners which include, Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, DisneyToon Studios and Dreamworks to cinemas across the region. Marvel’s Iron Man 3 is today the biggest release in history overtaking all other studios in SEA. Iron Man 3 also ranks as the biggest opening weekend of all times in all key Southeast Asian markets (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand). Marvel’s Captain America and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy currently rank as the top 10 movies in SEA. The global animation hit, Frozen, is Disney/Pixar’s biggest ever animation title in Southeast Asia.

Disney Media Distribution (DMD) distributes The Walt Disney Company’s programs and channels to television, mobile, broadband and on-demand platforms. In Southeast Asia, DMD distributes its program and channels portfolio to over 25 partners including terrestrial broadcasters, pay-TV platforms and channels as well as digital platforms, across more than 10 territories. DMD’s program portfolio includes feature films, scripted and reality series and formats such as the Emmy® Award Winning Grey’s Anatomy and The Amazing Race as well as primetime favorites Marvel’s Agents of Shield, Scandal and Revenge, live action and animated kids content, ABC News programming, and specials including the Academy Awards®. The business also oversees channel distribution of Disney Channel, DisneyXD and Disney Junior. With a commitment to embrace technology to enhance the consumer experience and expand content reach, DMD now distributes content to 30 mobile, VOD and broadband platforms across Southeast Asia.
