Thonglor has always been one of the more posh neighborhoods of Bangkok. It’s a popular residential area for the city’s rich and famous so celebrity sightings occur on a regular basis. Even if you’re not familiar with the who’s who of Bangkok, you’ll enjoy the overall attractiveness of the people who frequent this part of town. A bustling hub of restaurants, bars, night clubs and trendy coffee shops, you won’t have to look further for dining and entertainment options.
Over the years Thonglor has also become popular with Japanese expats and therefore it’s filled with restaurants from the land of the rising sun. Due to the high costs of rental and subsequently higher priced menus, you won’t find any of the riff raff that’s prevalent in the backpacker district of Khaosan Road. Even the street food over on Suhumvit 38 is slightly overpriced, but if you’ve lived in Thailand for a while you’ll appreciate these less tourist driven areas.
