The Authors’ Lounge is one of the most famous legendary spots for the English institution of Afternoon Tea amidst enchanting, old world charm by the Chao Phraya River.

The name “Authors’ Lounge” was a logical conclusion following the large number of famous writers who stepped through the doors of The Oriental over the years.

From Joseph Conrad and Somerset Maugham, Noel Coward, Graham Greene and John Le Carre to Frederick Forsythe, Dame Iris Murdoch and Sir V.S. Naipaul

Designed by an Italian architect, located in the oldest part of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok opened since 1887 as the very first luxury hotel in Thailand.
