Experimental Dining Experience – Fragrance And Fine Wine Meet Fashion And Fine Art

The City of Angels’ fine dining lovers are in for a heavenly sensory treat when some of the capital’s purveyors and importers of all things fine join forces to present Fragrance & Fashion – an extraordinary fusion affair of expertly matched food; wine; fashion; and art in five acts, each inspired by a specific fragrance.

The exclusive event was presented during the 18th annual World Gourmet Festival at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel in September 2017.

Lampe Berger Paris selected a unique fragrance for each of the five acts from its Dreams of Freshness; Dreams of Flowers; and Oriental Dreams collections to inspire the epicurean and artistic matches – the Paris-based manufacturer of the famed Lampe Berger Lamp works with top French Master Perfumers to create over 50 fragrances of magnificent olfactory compositions inspired from nature or distant places for a daily state of wellbeing.

For the first act, guests have been introduced to the scent of tomato leaves – the fragrance carries major notes of fresh mint.

The matching food pairing designed by Anantara Siam’s Executive Chef, Jan Van Dyk, features seared scallops served with prawn paper; tomato; mixed herbs; and an equally fresh tasting cucumber and lime infused consommé. Served with a handpicked Alois Lageder Sauvignon Blanc 2015 from the Trentino-Alto Adige.

The second act adopted a scent of Radiant Bergamont extracted from bergamot and black pepper, which guests enjoyed with quail breast served with confit, burnt eggplant, star anise and orange glaze, and dried fruit kadaif – paired with Chardonnay Unoaked, Villa Angela, Velenosi, Marche 2015.

The fragrance of Sensual Bouquet has a major note of rose lily of valley that inspires a pairing of black cod served with zucchini, green tomato, burrata cheese and apricot foam with Ruche di Chiraretto, Monferrato Classico, Ferraris, Piemonte 2014.

Influenced by the fragrance of Amber Powder, another smooth pairing is lamb served with green pea, mint, preserved lemon and Tajine jus and Sangiovese di Romagna, DOC Superriore Riserva, Avi, SanPatrignano, Emilia Romagna 2007.

On stage, meanwhile, talented fashion designer Munchumart Numbenjapol showcased a colour interpretation of each act’s fragrance through her new Silk Road by Munchu’s travel wear collection to delight the visual senses.

Iconic brand Lotus Arts de Vivre accessorised the models with exquisite jewellery from an impressive portfolio of necklaces; earrings; rings; bangles; bracelets; and brooches.

The show ended with “Rosalie” (raspberry supreme, litchi-rose gel, candied rose petals and Thai tea ice cream) and Moscato, Sensuale, Vigneti Del Vulture, Basilicata N/V to link with a fragrance of Timeless Rose in major notes of Rose de mai and jacinthe.
