THAINESS THROUGH THE LENS OF THE MASTER SHOT


The “Thainess Though the Lens of the Master Shot” project which promotes 12 cities under the “Provinces You Can’t Miss” project held a press conference at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. The guest of honor was Mr. Wiwatchai Boonyapak, Director of Marketing, Tourism Authority of Thailand, who welcomed numerous VIPs and other guests at the event.

“Thainess Though the Lens of the Master Shot” aims to promote 12 provinces that visitors should not miss. This is a creative activity that will help expand the routes of Thai cultural tourism through the lenses of some of the top photographers in Thailand who recorded memories of their travel to the cities.

These photos tell of the beauty of the 12 tourist cities thanks to sponsorship from the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand. These activities have been managed by Punch Media (Thailand) Company Limited and will help promote the Thai government’s national policy. The policy announced for this year is to be the year of Thai cultural tourism to promote the good image of Thailand to the world, under the campaign “Discover Thainess 2015”.

The Tourism Authority Of Thailand assigned Punch Media (Thailand) Co., Ltd., to organize the “Turn on Your Cameras, Ready Your Lenses at The 12 Provinces that You Can’t Miss” as part of promoting Thailand’s tourism under the “Discover Thainess 2015” policy.

The cities chosen to take part as the 12 Provinces that you can’t miss are:

The Northern Region, which includes the three provinces of Lampang (The Timeless City), Phetchabun (Flower Mountain in the Mist), and Nan (Whisper of Love Among the Stars).

The Northeastern Region, which includes the two provinces of Buriram (Castle of Two Ages) and Loei (Cold and Happy in Loei).

The Central Region consists of the two provinces Samut Songkhram (City of Water at Three Times) and Ratchaburi (Artistic Community).

The Eastern Region consists of the two provinces Trat (Dream Island) and Chanthaburi (Garden of Heaven with a Hundred of Fruits).

The Southern Region, which includes the three provinces of Trang (The Land of Great Food), Chumphon (Hundred’s of Yards of Beautiful Beach),

and Nakhon Si Thammarat (The City of Dhamma and Nature).

The photographers chosen to participate in this program, including honorary photographers from the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand and other leading photographers in Thailand, are:

The current government has authorized the Thai cultural tourism plan, naming year 2015 the year of Thai cultural tourism, concentrating on the lifestyle of Thais. This also plan to help increase income, reduce the gap between social statuses, and encourage people in communities take care of their own local culture.

To continue activities that conform to the government’s policy, the Tourism Authority Of Thailand initiated the “Discover Thainess 2015” campaign to promote tourism in Chiang Mai and extended the campaign to include the “Provinces that you can’t miss”. The campaign selected 12 provinces from the five regions of Thailand under the same concept, stressing on the provinces with readiness in nature, lifestyle and arts, and cultural tourism. It is expected there will be over 135 million tourists travelling within the country throughout the year, which will greatly support the country’s economy.

Therefore, in order to present the luring beauty of the 12 tourism provinces, we present the idea behind the “Turn on Your Cameras, Ready Your Lenses at The 12 Provinces that You Can’t Miss” Project to help promote and ensure success to Thai cultural tourism.

Objectives: To promote the “12 Provinces You Can’t Miss” under the “Thai culural tourism” Discover Thainess 2015 as portrayed through the photographs, entered into the competition and chosen by judges and honorable guests, of leading photographers that will be used for tourism promotion in the future.

To support tourism businesses and encourage more Thai and foreign tourists to travel in Thailand.
To promote and create a new mindset for tourists and local residents about preserving the Thai traditional ways through Thai cultural tourism in each province. This is to provide inspiration for those who love to take pictures.
