Chumphon


Chumphon is a door to the South of Thailand and a city with a long historical background.  There are 8 districts – Mueang, Lang Suan, Sawi, Tha Sae, Pathew, Lamae, Phato, and Tung Tako

Chumphon Attractions

Hat Sai Ree : one of popular beaches with white sand and clear water.  It is also a location of Prince Chumpon Shrine and Memorial.

Khao Matsee Viewpoint : It is located near Hat Sai Ree.  You can see a large view of the sea and beautiful sunset.

Hat Thung Wua Laen : a long beach with many resorts, hotels and restaurants.

Soldier Youth World War II Monument : it was built to honor the young children who died in World War II

Mu Koh Chumphon National Park : You can walk on the mangrove forest nature trail and islands.

Por Waterfall : a small waterfall but have water flowing all year round surrounded by shady trees.

Koh Phitak : You can have a homestay experiencing fisherman community and other activities on the island.

Activities

You can go white-water rafting in Amphur Phato, or riding on a raft seeing beautiful view of Lang Suan River, or trekking at Phato Water Source Arrangement Unit, or snorkeling and diving.

Tips

Don’t miss go relaxing at Hat Thung Wua Laen, paying respect to Prince Chumpon’s Monument, the Father of Thai Navy at Hat Sai Ree.  Chomphon beaches still keep their beauty with clear water and no pollution because there isn’t any factory.


Chumphon is famous for beautiful underwater world and various marine lives such as in Koh Ngam, Koh Lang Ka Jew.

During September – October, you can see thousands of eagles migrating from Siberia to Chumphon.

Travelling to Koh Tao from Chumphon is faster than travelling from Suratthani.

Chomphon Hotels

You can find various levels of hotels, resorts, and guesthouses in Hat Thung Wua Laen.  There are campsites and rental tents in the National Parks such as in Klong Plao (Ngao waterfall) National Park and in Mu Koh Chumphon National Park.

Food and Drinks

When you visit Chumphon, you should try Kanom Chin (rice noodles) with spicy curry in southern style.  Fresh seafood can be found easily because Chumphon is the center of fishery.   The famous products in Chumphon are lady-finger bananas,  Sawi pineapples ,and baegu leaves which normally are fried with eggs or boiled with curry soup.

Shopping

Fruits such as lady-finger bananas, rambutans, mangosteens, durians, or other products such as bird’s nests, coffee beans are normally bought as presents from Chumphon.
