Ancient City of Kamphaeng Saen

Situated about 24 kilometers north away from Nakhon Pathom downtown, Ancient City of Kamphaeng Saen can be dated back to the Dvaravati period and is assumed be as old as Mueang Nakhon Chaisi, but smaller in size. It is believed to have been constructed by Nakhon Chaisi’s former rulers to control a trading route along canals and rivers to promote the town as a seaport-trading centre. The development as well as the deterioration of the two towns must have been almost at the same time.            The interesting attractions of Ancient City of Kamphaeng Saen include unchanged ditches and earth dikes surrounding the ditches. Within the Ancient City area, small earthern mounds, ponds, and large trees are homes to various kinds of birds. At present, the site is used as a Boy Scout’s camp.Opening hours: Daily 9am-4pmContact:  Ancient City of Kamphaeng Saen Ancient City of Kamphaeng SaenMu 5, Tambon Thung Kwang, Amphoe Kam Phaeng Saen, Nakhon PathomTel. 66 34 752 846
