Sunday brunch is a special time for families to come together and enjoy a leisurely meal while spending quality time with each other. It remains the most popular day to brunch, and the ritual of Sunday Brunch has become the Western equivalent of a combined breakfast and lunch.

Sunday Brunch takes many forms and has its own unique protocol. Unlike any other meal, it offers a wide variety of dishes and drinks, ranging from savory to sweet, and often includes brunch cocktails like mimosas or bloody marys. Sunday brunch is truly a beloved tradition for many.

Sunday brunch is typically thought of as a leisurely and indulgent meal that combines breakfast and lunch. It often includes a wide variety of dishes, both sweet and savory, such as eggs, bacon, pastries, pancakes, waffles, salads, seafood, and desserts. Sunday brunch is often accompanied by drinks like coffee, tea, juice, and cocktails, and it is a popular social activity where friends and family gather to enjoy good food and company.

In modern living, Sunday brunch has started to evolve beyond its original concept. Many people stay out late on Saturday night and sleep in on Sunday, making it less likely that they will cook a meal at home. As a result, they often choose to go out for brunch in the late afternoon, and may linger for hours, skipping dinner altogether.

Sunday brunches typically offer food and soft drinks, with package options that can include wine, beer, cocktails, and even a free flow of champagne, among other choices.

Premium Sunday brunches, especially those offered by luxury hotel restaurants, often feature a high-end buffet line that includes a variety of luxurious dishes such as seafood on ice, lobster, roasted beef, scallops, steak, turkey, foie gras, lamb, and a wide selection of cheeses. In addition, guests can order from a premium a la carte menu.

Trader Vic’s is one of Bangkok’s most beloved Pacific Rim style brunch spots, and my family and I recently had the opportunity to revisit this renowned establishment and its signature “aloha, sit back and relax” atmosphere, as well as its amazing food. As the saying goes, “absence makes the heart grow fonder,” and we quickly fell back in love with the beautiful Chao Phraya River setting and the vibrant Polynesian tiki design and décor of Trader Vic’s. It was the perfect place to unwind and recharge after a hectic working week.

You can take the BTS to Saphan Taksin pier and hop onto the Anantara Shuttle Cruise for a 15-minute ride with beautiful views of the banks of the Chao Phraya River. The breeze and scenic view can recharge your batteries after a long work week in the city.
