Burapa Eastern Thai Cuisine & Bar: 2024 Review Luxury Restaurant
A Sukhumvit 11 Oasis with Orient-express ambiance, named after the Thai word for “East,” Burapa Eastern Thai Cuisine & Bar presents an avant-garde dining experience reminiscent of the E&O train theme.

3-story restaurant and bar, with a friendly bar on the first floor and tables reserved for guests accompanied by their four-legged friends.

With its exquisite decor, it creates the ambiance of dining while traveling, offering an innovative culinary journey through Eastern Thailand. Featuring a diverse array of flavors inspired by the region’s rich cultural heritage.

Burapa Eastern Thai Cuisine & Bar Opening Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM for à la carte menu options. It’s an ideal spot for catching up with friends or entertaining business partners.
Additionally, expected in June – July 2024, every Wednesday night, indulge in exploring Thailand’s Eastern region through The Wander Wednesdays Tasting Menu. Here is some of my highlights.

The first three bites are guaranteed to blow your mind. Starting with Double-Layered Pickled Melon, cucumber, and watermelon, enhanced with sun-dried catfish from Singburi province, followed by Braised Pork Belly & Cha-Mung Leaf Croquettes, Sea Prawn Soaked in Sweet Fish Sauce, and Fresh Mango with Spicy Shrimp Sauce. It’s a fantastic kick to elevate spice levels, brimming with delightful surprises and outstanding flavor combinations.

Eastern Consommé Soup with Sliced Bitter Orange Peel in Beef Dumplings introduces us to the intriguing flavor of เร่ว Raew, Thai herb see dried one in picture above (to me it is similar to Bustard cardamom). The soup is subtly salty and mellow, eliciting compliments from all our tablemates. The beef within the dumplings evokes memories, inspiring the fusion of these two culinary experiences into something entirely new. It’s a fresh adventure for all of us.

Smooth and Silky Cauliflower Purée with Grilled Scallop features incredibly fresh Thai shellfish, giving it an international appeal with a distinctive Eastern Thai taste—salty, sour, and spicy all at once.

Milky Rice Porridge with Thai Wild Almond and Stewed Pork Belly with Eastern Herbs And Spices resembles stewed pork belly porridge, but let me tell you, the rice purée is incredibly smooth and creamy, thanks to the Thai wild almond. It evokes memories of your mom’s porridge but elevates it to an extremely luxurious dish. You’ll delight in taking small spoonfuls from the outside into the slightly salty sauce. Gradually savor the pork belly cuts, enjoying them together. I’m telling you, it’s incredibly satisfying; you’ll find yourself craving more.

One of my favorite dishes, Eastern Crab Rice, a decadent dish crafted with short-grain rice, black crab meat, crab roe, and a flavorful Thai herb broth, served with a unique sauce. This fish sauce chili, enriched with galangal, offers a taste like no other, boasting a unique and aromatic flavor profile that delights the palate. It was our first time experiencing this dish at a restaurant, and it left a lasting impression. Another dipping sauce with its salty and sour notes. Pair it with rice for an exceptionally delicious combination. We recommend tasting it without pouring sauce initially, then trying it with both dipping sauces. For the finishing touch, mix in the yellow crab fat and savor it all with rice. The flavor is intense, a tad salty, and undeniably delicious. Adding a bit of dipping sauce only enhances the experience.

The aroma of squid ink rice intertwines with Cha-Mung leaves, complemented by the fiery heat of Trat’s chili curry sauce, the tenderness of Wagyu beef tenderloin, and the sweetness of grilled tomatoes.
This dish pays homage to the bold flavors of spicy curry paste. The black squid ink rice resembles a risotto, delivering a delightful taste experience. Its richness is balanced by the sweetness of the roasted tomatoes, providing a momentary respite from the spice before diving back into the fiery flavors.

The Fizzy Grape Granita features chilled jumbo-sized grapes with a sweet taste and crunchy flakes that burst in your mouth, leaving you eager for the next delightful dish.
Tomatoes Three Ways, interesting

Drawing inspiration from his Thai-Chinese heritage and childhood memories learning about diverse foods from his grandmother, chef Ack Wongwich crafts delicious dishes that both locals and foreigners enjoy, showcasing the rich of Thai flavors and herbs.

For wine enthusiasts, The WanderEast Tasting Menu can also be expertly paired with wines, a highly recommended option for enhancing your dining experience.
