Bangkok’s Best Restaurant: Ginza Ichi Sushi, Omakase At Erawan Bangkok – Top Luxe List

An experience like nowhere else in Bangkok thanks to fresh fishes that come straight from Toyosu market in Japan, literally daily, as well as masterful chefs who know how to bring out the best in fishes and other ingredients. With the meticulous art of preparing the one-off experience, this omakase house is awarded 1 Michelin Star.

What they offer to their guests at Ginza Sushi Ichi is not just foods to fill your stomach; instead, every single one is a piece of art.

Starting with a set of tempting sashimi, comprising madai, akagai, and saba. Each fish comes in two pieces – one to be savored with salt, and another with shoyu. You will be surprised by how they taste noticeably different.

For sushi, we were served shima aji, nodoguro, todai subu, and more. All of which taste remarkably fresh as if we were actually in Japan.

Akami suke, shoyu-marinated tuna topped on yuzu-rice, is a mellowly combination, and how subtle yuzu scent enhance the flavour is incredible.

Another fantastic bite is otoro, which is burnt with ash-free charcoal, resulting in mouth-watering smell and unique kind of melt-in-your-mouth sensation.

Sea-fresh kamasu, also known in English as barracuda, tastes surprisingly tender and juicy (juicy fish, yes, it is!). If it weren’t this fresh, it wouldn’t be this heavenly.

Wonders never cease! As time passed, more mouth-watering surprises arrived. Ultra-fresh murasaki uni feels so magical in the mouth with its rich yet clean, subtly salty yet sweet flavors.

Kuruma ebi is also the bomb, as its natural sweetness is intensified with oboro on rice.

Another type of uni – bafun uni – is served as uni ikura don, and it is one of the best dons ever made. The combo of the fresh, flavorful bafun uni and ikura is more than sublime.

Anago, fresh from the sea, comes with unique taste and touch, being enhanced by special sauce.

After a multitude of bite-sized feasts, miso with one-of-a-kind making is served to refresh before moving on to a few next, followed by toro-taku, before the meal ended with silky tamangoyaki.

Despite being famous for their fish menus, seasonal sweets at Ginza Sushi Ichi are also compelling enough for us to ask for more, especially rare cheese and white wine jelly.

If omakase is on the must-do list of discerning gastronomes, then Ginza Sushi Ichi is on the never-miss-nevertheless list for those in Bangkok, or else you would have to fly a long way to Japan to experience this one-of-a-kind freshness.
