Review: Capricci Bangkok Brings Retro Disco to Life – New Restaurant


Italo-Disco Restaurant & Bar, Bangkok’s newest Italian eatery on Soi Yen Akat 1, is the brainchild of renowned chefs Arnaud Dunand of Maison Dunand and Christian Martena of Clara. Together, they have crafted a fresh culinary destination that blends a delightful taste of Italy with a groovy, vibrant atmosphere, creating the perfect hangout for a fun social experience.

This new restaurant is a tribute to the relaxed and convivial ‘Apericena’ culture—a perfect blend of aperitif and dinner, celebrated for its sociable charm and leisurely pace.

The Menu
We loved the culinary custom of cicchetti, smaller plate dishes, perfect for sharing.

Capricci offers a casual dining experience perfect for socializing. Aperitifs are served as individual portions (priced per person), while small plates are ideal for exploring different dishes and sharing. Thai and Italian cultures share a love for communal dining, making this a delightful way to enjoy a meal with family or friends.

Our dinner is enhanced by an outstanding selection of mocktails, cocktails, and Italian wines.

The piadinas are thin flat crispy bread deep fried and baked with savory choices of toppings…we tried the tasty Beef Carpapccio, celeriac and parmesan…loved the aged beef marinated with herbs and lemon.

Tuna with Saffron Rice: A delightful combination of saffron-infused rice encased in a crispy flour coating, topped with tartare-style Akami tuna and finished with a drizzle of flavorful sauce.

Truffle Toast: A crispy toasted pastry topped with a rich and creamy taleggio cheese sauce, crowned with aromatic truffle for a burst of indulgent flavor.

A delicate soft-baked pastry filled with caviar, elegantly topped with Parma ham.

Although Ravioli or Risotto are available with tempting unusual receipes, we fancied a change and went with the Gnocchi Lamb Ragout. Home made Gnocchetti as lovely little pillows of potatoes with garlic, chopped basil, shaved parmesan and olive oil. Perfect match with a glass of Rosso di Montalcino, La Manella.

Orecchiette with Broccoli and anchovy and garlic. A classic from Puglia, this pasta dish is tasty, creamy and packed with nutrition ! The secret is apparently to let the broccoli coat the pasta and wrap the orecchiette with the flavors of the broccoli and saltiness of the anchovies.

If you’re a fan of disco clubs, this is the perfect spot to socialize, sip your favorite drinks, have fun, or simply enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.

They present the bill in a retro-style cassette case used as a bill folder—it’s a really cool touch!
