A free-spirited tropical escape in the Emboodhoo Lagoon, 15 minutes from Malé International Airport by boat, an irreverent and playful escape for couples, families and friends in search of a casual and captivating destination getaway.

The resort’s design is stylish, eclectic and full of art and seafaring motifs to create fascinating and comfortable spaces where guests can relax.

“Guests will enjoy quirky architecture and plenty of places to stay and play. The rooms and villas are very colourful; we put a lot of effort into making it stylish and daring. We want it to feel welcoming, so that everyone can walk into the resort and instantly feel at home,” said Dirk De Cuyper, Chief Hospitality Officer, S Hotels & Resorts.

Stylish and welcoming dining at Miss Olive Oyl Mediterranean Restaurant & Bar

The resort’s playful design ethos will be on show at Miss Olive Oyl, the poolside Mediterranean seafood grill and bar, and Mr Tomyam, a Thai fusion eatery with open kitchen and alfresco dining areas. Guests can also enjoy a range of water sports and wellness offerings, while discovering Maldivian cultural activities. This is all part of a personal journey that can be further tailored by creating your own bathroom amenities using natural ingredients from the resort’s Aroma Lab and custom-made kids pyjamas in rooms and creature comfort pillows.

Housing the Maldives’ first Café del Mar, the world-famous beach club brand, SAii Lagoon Maldives is also planning to host memorable beach parties in the Maldives in partnership with iconic international DJs.

SAii Lagoon Maldives will be closely linked to The Marina @CROSSROADS, a 30-berth marina with a wide variety of lifestyle offerings. This vibrant district will house many facilities, including the Junior Beach Club and Camp, the CROSSROADS Event Hall and Marine Discovery Centre, where marine biologists will teach guests about the resort’s conservation activities, including a Junior Coral Curator program and clownfish release initiatives.

This eco hub reflects SAii Lagoon Maldives’ strong environmental ethos, which is also demonstrated in its design. The room and villa interiors balance organic materials with natural textiles, tropical colours and an abundance of daylight to create a low-impact, high-comfort sanctuaries. Each room features beautiful ocean views, a bathroom with a rain shower and a deck or balcony, while the beach and overwater villas promise truly exclusive experiences for families or friends.

SAii Lagoon Maldives has been created as a destination not only for international holidaymakers, but also as a place for transit travellers and local Maldivians to spend time with friends and families during the day.

“The really ingenious thing about this project is that it’s only 15 minutes by air-conditioned speedboat from Malé and the international airport. So, even if guests have only two hours’ transit, they can come to CROSSROADS, visit Café del Mar, do some shopping at The Marina or enjoy casual dining at a variety of restaurants. We’re confident that it’s going to attract a lot of people,” Dirk De Cuyper explained.

Scheduled to open in summer 2019, CROSSROADS Maldives will encompass three idyllic islands fringing the Emboodhoo Lagoon in the South Malé Atoll. Phase one will reveal SAii Lagoon Maldives and Hard Rock Hotel Maldives, plus a wide range of facilities at The Marina @CROSSROADS.
