Sailor Talk: Paul Monahan

His badass personality, and ambition to take Sailor Jerry to the next level has earned him his position as Global Ambassador, and as true Sailor Jerry advocate, he’s ready to hit the ground running.

Paul Monahan is a rare bird; his early career began as a successful promoter & bartender where he earned a reputation as a nightlife consultant, and cemented his reputation within the drinks industry by opening and operating a globally recognised hotel bar in Boston. He was then snapped up in 2011 as the National Brand Ambassador for Sailor Jerry in New York. Two years later, Paul hit the West Coast to take up the role of SJ Brand Ambassador in LA, where he aged signature SJ cocktail recipes in used glenfiddich barrels at skate shops, record stores and hot rod garages. Paul also threw numerous influencer & press events, and helped SJ sponsor car shows and motorcycle rallies.

Paul’s career has been one helluva journey to date, from crafting some of the best goddamn cocktails around to carving up a well-earned reputation as a tough-living night owl. His discerning eye for innovation, and enthusiasm for all aspects of tattoo culture, mean Paul has developed the attitude, dedication and expertise to embody the pioneering spirit of Sailor Jerry.

“I’m always willing to listen to somebody else’s ideas…because we can always learn more.” – Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins

Sailor Jerry, the original spiced rum and iconic American brand, has announced its new Global Brand Ambassador as Paul Monahan. Hailing from Boston and with a personality as slick as his haircut, Monahan has a proven track record spreading the gospel of smooth rum and the legacy of Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins.

‘We recognize that there is a strong subculture in Bangkok, of independent rule-breakers looking to forge their own path and express their unique identities, and we look forward to connecting with these people and welcoming them into our Sailor Jerry family,’ said Paul Monahan.
