Thailand International Boat Show 2026 Concludes in Phuket as the High Season Draws to a Close

Marking a vibrant close to Phuket’s high season, the Thailand International Boat Show – A Luxury Lifestyle Event 2026 wrapped up on 18 January following four days of on-water yacht showcases, industry dialogue, and lifestyle programming at Phuket Yacht Haven Marina.

Returning to one of Phuket’s premier marina settings, the show brought together government representatives, marine industry professionals, real estate developers, lifestyle brands, and visitors from across the region. The event provided a high-profile platform for industry engagement while welcoming the public to explore Thailand’s growing marine and luxury lifestyle sectors.

Government Support and Policy Context

Supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and Phuket Province, the event reinforced the importance of marine tourism within Thailand’s broader high-value travel economy.

The official opening ceremony was presided over by Natthriya Thaweevong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, alongside Nirat Phongsittithaworn, Governor of Phuket Province. National and local authorities, along with representatives from Thailand’s tourism and marine sectors, were in attendance.

Across the event, discussions highlighted long-stay tourism, marine infrastructure, and the services required to support the continued development of Thailand’s yachting and maritime industries.

Conference Sets the Tone for the Week

Preceding the main event, the Thailand Yachting Conference was held on 14 January at The Slate, Nai Yang Beach. The conference brought together around 70 industry stakeholders—including marina operators, superyacht professionals, legal advisors, and government representatives—to explore the future of yachting in Thailand and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

Topics included regulatory developments, regional cruising grounds, marina infrastructure, and the evolving role of superyachts in supporting high-end tourism. Two dedicated sessions examined opportunities and challenges for superyachts across Southeast Asia, with insights from Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Hong Kong, and the Greater Bay Area.

The Asia-Pacific Superyacht Association (APSA) acted as a supporting partner for both the conference and the boat show, with several members contributing as speakers and panellists.

Gordon Fernandes, CEO and Founder of Asia Pacific Superyachts and an APSA General Committee member, commented:

“The superyacht industry is a key element for the growth of the boating industry in Thailand, and superyachts bring high-end tourism to the country. There have been major developments over the years with the introduction of the superyacht charter licence, but refinements are still needed to crew visa regulations to allow visiting superyachts to stay while they charter in the region.”

On-Water Displays and Visitor Experience

At Phuket Yacht Haven Marina, the show combined an extensive on-water yacht display with a curated mix of exhibitors housed in an air-conditioned exhibition tent. Exhibits featured marine services, waterfront real estate developments, and luxury lifestyle brands, reflecting the close connection between boating, property, and destination living.

Real estate developers formed a strong segment of the exhibition, presenting waterfront residences, resort-style developments, and investment-oriented projects. Their presence emphasised the show’s lifestyle focus, positioning it as more than a traditional marine trade exhibition.

Hospitality featured prominently, with VIP lounges hosted on board the superyacht Sea Bear offering informal networking spaces for exhibitors, invited guests, and industry stakeholders along the docks.

During the show, Primus Marine proudly confirmed the successful closing of the Aquila 44 sales deal, marking a significant highlight of the event and reflecting the strong demand for premium yachting experiences. Beyond this milestone, several exhibitors continued high-level discussions with qualified buyers and anticipate the successful conclusion of additional transactions following the show.

Over the four days, visitors enjoyed live entertainment, on-shore programming, and a children’s sailing regatta, contributing to the show’s inclusive and relaxed atmosphere.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all exhibitors and high-quality visitors who participated in the event. Their engagement further reinforced the show’s positioning as a comprehensive platform where buyers interested in yachts and luxury lifestyles can discover everything they need in one destination.

Organiser Perspective

David Hayes, CEO of JAND Events, organisers of both the Thailand International Boat Show A Luxury Lifestyle Event and the Thailand Yachting Conference, reflected on the programme:

“Our focus has always been on delivering high-quality events and a compelling experience for visitors. The show provided on-the-water yachting experiences for families and first-time attendees, as well as serious buyers, and the show and conference continue to play an important role in supporting Thailand’s marine and lifestyle industries.”

Looking Ahead

With participation from government bodies, industry associations, sponsors, and exhibitors, the Thailand International Boat Show 2026 underscored the continuing evolution of Phuket’s marine ecosystem. Held toward the close of the peak yachting season, the combined conference and boat show offered a moment to reflect on industry activity across the region while maintaining momentum into the months ahead.

The organisers also revealed that they had been informed of several yacht sales concluded both during the event and in the period following its close, totalling more than one vessel. This further underscored the show’s role as a key business platform for the marine industry.

Organisers have confirmed that the Thailand International Boat Show will return from 14–17 January 2027, with the Thailand Yachting Conference taking place on 13 January 2027. Industry stakeholders and visitors are encouraged to keep an eye out for further updates as planning for the next edition gets underway.

See you next year!
